1975-76
SCAN Center established at Philadelphia General Hospital (PGH) is the Nursing Education Building with Federal - State funding. SCAN is part of unique five-hospital network. Dr. E Peter Wilson, then chief of Department of Pediatrics at PHJ, becomes SCAN's first Director.
1977
PGH closed. SCAN registered in Pennsylvania as "SCAN of Philadelphia, PA" and "Supportive Child and Adult Network, Inc." as a private, not-for-profit organization funding by the City.
1977-78
SCAN clinic and pediatric services begin at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
1980
City of Philadelphia discontinues Community Nursing Service. SCAN begins to expand out reach nursing services.
1984
SCAN Client Fund, started by Graterford "Lifers", to assist in concrete assistance to families.
1983-86
Steady growth in staff, caseload and complexity of cases.
1986
First "SCANTASTIC" an annual culinary fundraiser for SCAN.
1987
Co-hosted first National Child Abuse conference with Children's Hospital. Participated in "Family Preservation" research by National Resource Center. Resource coordinator hired. Received United Way Affiliate funding for clinic play program.
1988
Received William Penn Foundation grant for "Project Thrive", a multifaceted family support program.
1989
SCAN Development Board Established.
1991-94
Federal funds received for "SCANTAP" a program for substance abusing families with a day care and respire component.
1992
Received two-year grant from Pew Foundation to support the multi-disciplinary model. Peter Wilson retired. DiLullo's and Saks hold first Annual Fashion Show fundraiser for SCAN,
1993
Received grand for "Healthy Start" a prenatal and postnatal prevention and intervention program targeting families in West Philadelphia. Vivian Drayton becomes SCAN's new Executive Director.
1994
Coordination Office of Drug and Alcohol Abuse Programs and Department of Human Services agrees to fund SCANTAP. |
